Abstract

Abstract A fibre, a thread bundle and a cord entirely or substantially consisting of poly-p-phenylene terephthalamide having an inherent viscosity of at least 2.5. The fibre has a tenacity of at least 10 cN/dtex, an elongation at break of at least 2.7% and an initial modulus of at least 300 cN/dtex, said fibre having an improved resistance to the action of heat as shown by a heat sensitivity index not higher than 12. Dipped cords formed from said fibre have a cord efficiency of at least 75%.
