Abstract
Abstract An agent which absorbs hydrogen gas for electrochemical cells is made from an oxide of manganese and nickel, cobalt or iron. At temperatures above about 40° C., the oxide of manganese can be replaced by lead oxide. Hydrophobic binders can be added to the agent or the agent can be microencapsulated in water-impermeable but hydrogen-gas-permeable materials. The agent is preferably added to the cell in the form of small agglomerates or microcapsules.
