Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 74 words
A biologically pure culture of an avirulent bacterial strain useful as a vaccine, wherein said avirulent strain is derived from a virulent bacterial strain by introducing into said virulent strain at least two mutations of the same phenotype which render said virulent strain avirulent, while permitting said avirulent strain to retain immunogenicity; wherein said phenotype is a temperature-sensitive phenotype which suppresses growth at the normal body temperature of a host for said virulent strain.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 74 words
A biologically pure culture of an avirulent bacterial strain useful as a vaccine, wherein said avirulent strain is derived from a virulent bacterial strain by introducing into said virulent strain at least two mutations of the same phenotype which render said virulent strain avirulent, while permitting said avirulent strain to retain immunogenicity; wherein said phenotype is a temperature-sensitive phenotype which suppresses growth at the normal body temperature of a host for said virulent strain.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 14 words
The avirulent strain of any of claim 1 wherein said bacterium is H. influenzae.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 13 words
The avirulent strain of claim 2 wherein said bacterium is H. influenzae A214-A/3.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 13 words
The avirulent strain of claim 2 wherein said bacterium is H. influenzae A214-A/3-C2/13.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 20 words
The strain of any of claim 1 wherein said avirulent strain contains at least three mutations of the same phenotype.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 32 words
The strain of any of claim 1 wherein said phenotype is such that growth will occur for at most 7 cell divisions after contact with the normal body temperature of said host.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 25 words
The strain of claim 6 wherein growth will occur for at most 3 cell divisions after contact with the normal body temperature of said host.
