Abstract
Abstract A bored thrust bearing having a bearing face formed in series with tapered lands for forming a thrust load-carrying oil film, each tapered land being formed with a foot surface having a given sloping angle (β) and an upper surface having a gentle sloping angle (α) less than the given sloping angle, the foot surface and the upper surface having therebetween a rounded boundary.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim
116 words
A thrust bearing having a central bore for receiving therein a rotating shaft, a bearing face extending around the central bore for making a slide engagement with a slide part of the shaft, and tapered lands circumferentially arranged in series in the bearing face for forming a thrust load-carrying oil film of a wedge shape between the tapered lands and the sliding part of the shaft, wherein each of said tapered lands is formed with a foot surface having a given sloping angle (β) and an upper surface having a gentle sloping angle (α) less than said given sloping angle of said foot surface, said foot surface and said upper surface having therebetween a rounded boundary.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
18 words
A thrust bearing according to claim 1, wherein each of said tapered lands has a rounded top corner.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
31 words
A thrust bearing according to claim 1, wherein said upper surface of said each tapered land has a circumferential length smaller than 60 percent of that of each said tapered land.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
35 words
A thrust bearing according to claim 1, wherein the relation of said given sloping angle (β) of said foot surface and said gentle sloping angle (α) of said upper surface is 0 degree <α<β<5 degrees.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
20 words
A thrust bearing according to claim 1, wherein said tapered lands have an equal height of 4 through 6 microns.
