Abstract

Abstract A surface-activated functional material and a method of producing the same are disclosed. The surface-activated functional materials are produced by subjecting a surface of a metal substrate to an activation treatment to change an atomic configuration of the metal substrate into an activated state and then adsorbing a second metal element to the surface of the metal substrate to preserve the activated state.
