Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 53 words
A method for making metallic glass powder comprising: charging a solid metallic glass body with hydrogen at a temperature below its glass transition temperature for time sufficient to effect embrittlement, said body being a cathode in an electrolytic solution capable of generating hydrogen at said cathode; and comminuting the embrittled metallic glass body.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 53 words
A method for making metallic glass powder comprising: charging a solid metallic glass body with hydrogen at a temperature below its glass transition temperature for time sufficient to effect embrittlement, said body being a cathode in an electrolytic solution capable of generating hydrogen at said cathode; and comminuting the embrittled metallic glass body.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 30 words
The method for making metallic glass powder according to claim 1 wherein the metallic glass is charged with hydrogen under a hydrogen pressure of at least 1 kg/cm 2 .
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 22 words
The method for making metallic glass powder according to claim 1 wherein the electrolytic solution is provided by an aqueous electrolyte solution.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 23 words
The method for making metallic glass powder according to claim 1 wherein the electrolytic solution is provided by an aqueous sulfuric acid solution.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 37 words
The method for making metallic glass powder according to claim 1 wherein the solid metallic glass body is charged with hydrogen at a temperature of between about 350° C. and 50° C. below its glass transition temperature.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 30 words
The method for making metallic glass powder according to claim 1 wherein the solid metallic glass body is charged for a time period of about 1 minute to 100 hours.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 29 words
The method for making metallic glass powder according to claim 1 wherein the metallic glass body is comminuted under hydrogen pressure of at least about 1 kg/cm 2 .
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 26 words
The method for making metallic glass powder according to claim 7 wherein the hydrogen pressure is from about 1 kg/cm 2 to 1000 kg/cm 2 .
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 22 words
The method for making metallic glass powder according to claim 1 comprising the step of removing the hydrogen after embrittlement is effected.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 20 words
The method for making metallic glass powder according to claim 9 wherein the hydrogen is removed by lowering the pressure.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 20 words
The method for making metallic glass powder according to claim 9 wherein the hydrogen is removed by increasing the temperature.
