Abstract

Abstract Certain 3-alkylhydroxybenzophenone derivatives, such as 2,4-dihydroxy-3-methylbenzophenone have been found to be superior as UV stabilizers for a variety of organic polymeric substrates. Coating compositions of such stabilizers in organic resins, for example, melamine can be used to protect such polymeric substrates from the effects of exposure to UV radiation.
