A photographic material having a silver halide emulsion layer coated on a support, which contains a compound represented by the following general formula [I] and one represented by the following general formula [II]: ##STR13## wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 , R 7 and R 8 each represent a hydrogen or halogen atom, an alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl, acyl, acylamino, sulfone or sulfonamido group, which may be the same of different, and each of said groups may have a substituent which does not form a colored dye on reaction with an oxidation product of a developing agent.
