Abstract
Abstract Powders of thermoplastic resins such as polyethylene homopolymer and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having controlled average particle sizes are obtained by agitating molten resin in admixture with water in the presence of a dispersing amount of a polyalkylene oxide surface active agent and a particle size-controlling amount of an alkanolamide surface active agent.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
92 words
A process for preparing solid organic polymeric thermoplastic resin particles of controlled particle size which comprises: (a) agitating a mixture of the resin while in the molten state, a dispersion-forming agent amount of water, a dispersion-forming amount of a polyalkyleneoxide surface active agent, and a particle size-controlling amount of an alkanolamide surface active agent to provide a dispersion; and, (b) cooling the dispersion to below the melting point of the resin to provide solid particles of resin having a broader average size range than that obtainable using polyalkyleneoxide surface active agent alone.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
