Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 77 words
A method of preparing an olefin addition catalyst comprising the steps of: forming a solution of a low valent transition metal coordination compound in organic solvent; irradiating the solution with ultraviolet radiation to form photochemically generated transition metal species; combining an insoluble organic polymeric support having ligands for said metal with said species; and attaching said photochemically generated species to said ligands in an amount of at least 0.1% by weight of metal on said polymeric support.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 77 words
A method of preparing an olefin addition catalyst comprising the steps of: forming a solution of a low valent transition metal coordination compound in organic solvent; irradiating the solution with ultraviolet radiation to form photochemically generated transition metal species; combining an insoluble organic polymeric support having ligands for said metal with said species; and attaching said photochemically generated species to said ligands in an amount of at least 0.1% by weight of metal on said polymeric support.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 19 words
A method according to claim 1 in which the wavelength of the radiation is from 300 to 500 nm.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 21 words
A method according to claim 1 in which the metal content of the catalyst is from 2 to 20% by weight.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 21 words
A method according to claim 1 in which the solution is irradiated to form the species before addition of the support.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 23 words
A method according to claim 1 in which irradiation is discontinued before a plurality of polymeric ligands attach to a single metal atom.
