Abstract

Abstract A ferrous wire having a homogeneous coating deposited on the wire, with the homogeneous coating comprised of between about 0.3-5.0% by weight of nickel, 60-75% by weight of copper and 40-25% by weight of zinc. The homogeneous coating comprises between about 0.3-16.0 grams of coating per kilogram of ferrous wire and coating. The coated ferrous wire is adapted to provide increased and superior precured humidity aged adhesion and postcured steam-aged adhesion to rubber based products such as tires, hose and belts.
