Abstract
Abstract A shoulder belt leading from a retractor on the vehicle roof and a lap belt leading from a retractor on the door are buckled to each other at a location generally inboard of the seat. A tongue on one of the belts passes through a D-ring fastened to the vehicle on the inboard side of the seat, the D-ring being large enough to allow the tongue to pass readily through it. The belts can be unbuckled from each other and will be wound into the retractors for easy emergency escape of a passenger.
