Abstract

Abstract The preparation of phosphorus-vanadium oxidation catalyst by the reduction of the valence of vanadium to less than +5 is obtained by employing less than the stoichiometric amount of reducing agent necessary to reduce the valence of the vanadium from +5 to +4, preferably 70 to 98% of the stoichiometric amount of reducing agent can be used.
