Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim
68 words
A method for facilitating the processing of scrap materials having a composite structure consisting of one or more polymer components and a fibre or fabric component, which method comprises, subjecting the scrap material to high energy radiation to a total dosage sufficient to selectively degrade the fibre or fabric component but which is insufficient to induce significant degradation of the polymer, and recovering the irradiated scrap for reprocessing.
Claim 2
Independent Claim
68 words
A method for facilitating the processing of scrap materials having a composite structure consisting of one or more polymer components and a fibre or fabric component, which method comprises, subjecting the scrap material to high energy radiation to a total dosage sufficient to selectively degrade the fibre or fabric component but which is insufficient to induce significant degradation of the polymer, and recovering the irradiated scrap for reprocessing.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
14 words
A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the scrap is a VCF scrap.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
19 words
A method as claimed in claim 2, wherein the radiation dose is from about 2.5 to about 10 Megarads.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
19 words
A method as claimed in claim 3, wherein the radiation dose is from about 4 to about 7 Megarads.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
11 words
The reprocessed scrap material prepared by the method of claim 1.
Claim 7
Independent Claim
69 words
A method of using scrap materials formed of one or more polymer components and a fibre or fabric component which method comprises subjecting the scrap material to high energy radiation to a total dosage sufficient to selectively degrade the fibre or fabric component but which is insufficient to induce significant degradation of the polymer and compounding the irradiated scrap by mechanical means with other components to form a compound.
Claim 8
Independent Claim
69 words
A method of using scrap materials formed of one or more polymer components and a fibre or fabric component which method comprises subjecting the scrap material to high energy radiation to a total dosage sufficient to selectively degrade the fibre or fabric component but which is insufficient to induce significant degradation of the polymer and compounding the irradiated scrap by mechanical means with other components to form a compound.
Claim 9
Independent Claim
61 words
A method of using scrap comprising a fabric coated with polyvinyl chloride which method comprises subjecting the scrap to high energy radiation to a total dosage sufficient to selectively degrade the fabric but which is insufficient to induce significant degradation of the polyvinyl chloride and compounding the irradiated scrap with polyvinyl chloride, a plasticizer and a stabilizer to form a compound.
Claim 10
Independent Claim
61 words
A method of using scrap comprising a fabric coated with polyvinyl chloride which method comprises subjecting the scrap to high energy radiation to a total dosage sufficient to selectively degrade the fabric but which is insufficient to induce significant degradation of the polyvinyl chloride and compounding the irradiated scrap with polyvinyl chloride, a plasticizer and a stabilizer to form a compound.
