Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 38 words
An influenza vaccine comprising an effective amount of a mixture of the hemagglutinin and neuraminidase components of influenza virus in the substantial absence of other components of the influenza viral particle, in association with an inert liquid diluent.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 38 words
An influenza vaccine comprising an effective amount of a mixture of the hemagglutinin and neuraminidase components of influenza virus in the substantial absence of other components of the influenza viral particle, in association with an inert liquid diluent.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 49 words
A vaccine according to claim 1, in which the mixture of hemagglutinin and neuraminidase components is produced by a method which comprises treating influenza virus in an aqueous medium with a cationic detergent to selectively solubilise such components and separating the resulting solubilised components from the residual subviral particles.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 28 words
A vaccine according to claim 2, which contains from 600 to 3000 international units of the mixture of hemagglutinin and neuraminidase components per 0.5 ml of the vaccine.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 13 words
A vaccine according to claim 3, in which the diluent comprises physiological saline.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 15 words
A vaccine according to claim 4, in which the diluent comprises phosphate buffered physiological saline.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 13 words
A vaccine according to claim 3, additionally comprising a preserving or inactivating agent.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 13 words
A vaccine according to claim 6, in which the inactivating agents is formaldehyde.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 11 words
A vaccine according to claim 3, additionally comprising an immunological adjuvant.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 13 words
A vaccine according to claim 8, in which the adjuvant comprises aluminium hydroxide.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 21 words
A method of inducing immunity against influenza virus, comprising administering an immunologically effective amount of a vaccine according to claim 2.
