Abstract
Abstract Iodized isophthalamic acid compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R 1 is straight-chain or branched lower hydroxyalkyl; R 2 is hydroxymethyl or a lower, straight-chain or branched alkyl of at least 2 carbon atoms, which can be interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms, or is ##STR2## wherein Z is a carbon-to-carbon bond or a straight-chain or branched hydrocarbon which can be interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms, or when R 1 is other than --CH 2 --CH 2 --OH, is methyl; and the salts thereof with physiologically acceptable inorganic or organic bases, are x-ray contrast agents.
