Abstract The water-soluble, physiologically tolerated sodium and alkanolamine salts of 3-hydroxyacylaminomethyl-5-acylamino-2,4,6triiodobenzoic acids of the formula WHEREIN R and R'''' are hydrogen or methyl, R'' is hydrogen or hydroxy, R'' is hydroxyl when R is hydrogen, and R'''' is hydrogen when R'' is hydrogen, are X-ray contrast agents suitable for urography and vasography and well tolerated when their aqueous solutions are injected into a vein.
