Abstract

Abstract A multipass fractionation tray having at least three chordal inlet and three chordal outlet downcomers alternately spaced along the circular periphery of the tray is presented. Liquid is collected from the contacting surfaces of the tray in a corresponding number of troughs which extend radially from approximately the center of the tray to the outlet downcomers. The troughs may serve as structural members which support the perforated decking plates of the tray and which are attached to a centrally located circular connecting ring.
