Polycarbonate composition containing urethane plasticizer

Claim 1

A plasticized polycarbonate composition comprising in admixture a high molecular weight aromatic carbonate polymer and a minor amount of a urethane plasticizer of the following formulae: ##STR16## wherein A, A', B, B' and R are independently selected from the group consisting of C 1 to C 30 alkyl, aryl of 6 to 14 carbon atoms, substituted aryl wherein the substituents are selected from the group consisting of halogen, C 1 to C 30 alkyl, C 1 to C 30 alkoxy, aryloxy of 6 to 14 carbon atoms, alkylthio of 1 to 30 carbon atoms, arylthio of 6 to 14 carbon atoms, aralkyl of 7 to 15 carbon atoms, with the proviso that A, B and R may also be hydrogen; X is independently selected from O or S; Y is selected from the group consisting of C 1 to C 30 alkylene, arylene of 6 to 14 carbon atoms, alkarylene of 7 to 30 carbon atoms, aralkylene of 7 to 30 carbon atoms, --CH 2 ) 1-4 O--CH 2 ) 1-4 ; --CH 2 ) 1-4 S--CH 2 ).sub. 1-4 ; Y' is the same as Y and is additionally selected from: C -- CH 2 -- O -- CH 2 -- C or ##STR17## wherein W is selected from the group consisting of: ##STR18## wherein G is ##STR19## and R" is hydrogen or C 1 -C 4 alkyl; R' is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C 1 -C 15 alkyl, aryl of 6-14 carbon atoms and substituted aryl wherein the substituents are C 1 -C 5 alkyl; --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 -- (b) --CH.sub.2 J--CH.sub.2 -- (c) wherein J is C 1 -C 16 alkylene or arylene of 6 to 14 carbon atoms; ##STR20## wherein c is an integer of 3 to 15; --O--; (3) --s--; (f) ##STR21## D and E are independently selected from the group consisting of halogen and C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl; a and b are integers of 0-1 with the proviso that the sum of a and b is at least 1.
