Abstract

Abstract A composite body consisting of two or more formed parts of densely sintered aluminum oxide and a metal such as an envelope for a mercury vapor discharge lamp with a metal halide filling. The parts are connected together with material which comprises at least two of the oxides SiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 and B 2 O 3 and at least one of the trivalent oxides La 2 O 3 and Y 2 O 3 . This material is applied at a relatively low temperature and is resistant to the gas filling up to approximately 1350° C.
