Abstract

Abstract A process for the removal of metal poisons such as nickel, iron and/or vanadium from a hydrocarbon conversion catalyst which includes the steps of contacting the catalyst with both a reductive wash and a subsequent oxidative wash to remove at least a portion of the metal poisons from the catalyst. A preferred oxidative wash medium comprises an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide. The vanadium and nickel metals may be recovered from the resultant used wash solutions for possible metallurgical use.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 99 words
In a process for treating a metal contaminated catalyst which has been poisoned in a hydrocarbon conversion process by a feedstock containing metal poisons to remove at least a portion of the metal contaminants and to produce a catalyst with improved catalytic activity, the improvement which comprises: (i) removing at least a portion of the metal poison from said catalyst by (a) contacting said catalyst with a liquid reductive wash medium; and (b) subsequently contacting the reductively washed catalyst with a liquid oxidative wash medium; and (ii) recovering a catalyst of reduced metal poison content and improved catalytic activity.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 99 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 18 words
A process as in claim 1 wherein the oxidative wash medium is an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide.
Claim 4
