Abstract

Abstract The distance between turns of wire being wound on a spool is determined and controlled by generating a signal proportional to the traverse speed, generating a signal proportional to the spool speed, dividing one by the other, and displaying the output signal in units traversed per spool revolution. The traverse speed is then adjusted until the traverse rate is slightly greater than the wire width.
