Claim 1
Independent Claim 90 words
A process for insulating portions of the surface area of a metal workpiece which is to be subjected to thermochemical treatment comprising coating predetermined portions of said workpiece with a self-adhesive fibrous textile tape made of organic material, having embedded in the adhesive layer thereof a metal powder and thereafter subjecting the workpiece to thermochemical treatment at a temperature sufficient to destroy said tape, said adhesive layer of the tape having a thickness of 25 to 250 microns and the metal powder having a thickness of 10 to 200 microns.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 90 words
A process for insulating portions of the surface area of a metal workpiece which is to be subjected to thermochemical treatment comprising coating predetermined portions of said workpiece with a self-adhesive fibrous textile tape made of organic material, having embedded in the adhesive layer thereof a metal powder and thereafter subjecting the workpiece to thermochemical treatment at a temperature sufficient to destroy said tape, said adhesive layer of the tape having a thickness of 25 to 250 microns and the metal powder having a thickness of 10 to 200 microns.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 15 words
A process according to claim 1 wherein the workpiece is made of iron or steel.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 17 words
A process according to claim 2 wherein the metal powder comprises copper, tin, silver, nickel or aluminum.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 33 words
A process according to claim 3 wherein the metal powder also includes lead, cadmium or a mixture of lead and cadmium in an amount of up to 10% of the total metal powder.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 42 words
A process according to claim 3 wherein the metal powder layer also contains a metal compound which is a metal oxide, metal halide or metal sulfide in an amount of up to 30% of the total of metal powder and metal compound.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 23 words
A process according to claim 5 wherein the metal compound is an oxide, halide or sulfide of copper, tin, silver, nickel or aluminum.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 13 words
A process according to claim 6 wherein the metal compound is an oxide.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 18 words
A process according to claim 1 wherein the thermochemical treatment is either a boriding or a nitriding treatment.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 11 words
A process according to claim 8 wherein the treatment is boriding.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 11 words
A process according to claim 8 wherein the treatment is nitriding.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 17 words
A process according to claim 8 wherein the metal powder comprises copper, tin, silver, nickel or aluminum.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 21 words
A process according to claim 1 wherein the coating is accomplished by pasting the tape onto the places to be insulated.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 15 words
A process according to claim 1 wherein the tape is carbonized in the thermochemical treatment.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 12 words
A process according to claim 1 wherein the thermochemical treatment is vanadiding.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 12 words
A process according to claim 1 wherein the thermochemical treatment is siliciding.
Claim 17
Dependent Claim 82 words
A process comprising subjecting to thermochemical treatment at a temperature sufficient to destroy the tape thereon a metal workpiece having predetermined areas thereof coated with a self-adhesive fibrous textile tape made of organic material, having embedded in the adhesive layer thereof a metal powder whereby said predetermined areas are insulated when the workpiece is treated thermochemically, the adhesive layer of the tape having a thickness of 25 to 250 microns and the metal powder having a thickness of 10 to 200 microns.
Claim 18
Dependent Claim 82 words
A process comprising subjecting to thermochemical treatment at a temperature sufficient to destroy the tape thereon a metal workpiece having predetermined areas thereof coated with a self-adhesive fibrous textile tape made of organic material, having embedded in the adhesive layer thereof a metal powder whereby said predetermined areas are insulated when the workpiece is treated thermochemically, the adhesive layer of the tape having a thickness of 25 to 250 microns and the metal powder having a thickness of 10 to 200 microns.
Claim 19
Dependent Claim 15 words
A process organic to claim 16 wherein the workpiece is made of iron or steel.
Claim 20
