Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 16
Claim 1
Independent Claim
100 words
A process for producing a soft polyvinyl chloride foam which comprises feeding a foamable soft polyvinyl chloride plastisol to a high speed mixing zone, agitating said foamable soft polyvinyl chloride plastisol at high speed in said high speed mixing zone at a pressure not exceeding about 15 atmospheres gauge to thereby generate, by friction, at least about 60 percent of the heat necessary for foaming and gelatination of said plastisol and cause foaming and gelling of said plastisol within said mixing zone, and discharging an at least partially gelled and at least partially foamed polyvinyl chloride from said mixing zone.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
16 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein said pressure does not exceed about 5 atmospheres.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
17 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein said mixing apparatus is a centrally cylindrical rotary mixer.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
16 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein said plastisol is one having pseudo-plastic flow behavior.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
21 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein said mixing apparatus is provided with a discharge device to shape the foam.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
15 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein foaming is completed within said mixing apparatus.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
19 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the foaming continues after the foam has left the mixing apparatus.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
17 words
A process as claimed in claim 7, wherein said foam is heated after leaving the mixing apparatus.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
37 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein said plastisol includes a foaming agent selected from the group consisting of ammonium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, a hydride in conjunction with active hydrogen, N,N'-dinitroso-pentamethylene-tetra-amine, p,p'-hydroxy-bis-benzenesulphonyl-hydrazide, p-toluenesulphonyl-hydrazide, and azodicarboxylic amide.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
13 words
A process according to claim 9 wherein said foaming agent is azo-dicarboxylic amide.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
15 words
A process according to claim 1, wherein said polyvinyl chloride is a homopolymer of vinylchloride.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
15 words
A process according to claim 1 wherein said polyvinyl chloride is a copolymer of vinylchloride.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim
27 words
A process according to claim 1 wherein about 6 parts by weight of a foaming agent per 100 parts by weight of polyvinyl chloride are agitated together.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim
41 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein at least one auxiliary substance selected from the group consisting of heat stabilizers, light stabilizers, foam stabilizers, blowing stabilizers, lubricants, emulsifiers, pigments, and fillers is added to the plastisol within the mixing apparatus.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim
24 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plastisol comprises up to 100% by weight, relative to the polyvinyl chloride, of a filler.
