Abstract
Abstract A directionally solidified multivariant eutectic γ+β nickel-base superalloy casting having improved high temperature strength and oxidation resistance properties is provided comprising a two phase eutectic structure containing, on a weight percent basis, 7.0-12.0 aluminum, 5.0-40.0 chromium, 3.0-35.0 iron and the balance being nickel. Embedded within the γ phase nickel-base matrix are aligned eutectic β phase (primarily (Ni,Fe,Al) )reinforcing lamellae.
