Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim
84 words
A process for the manufacture of anthraquinones of the formula ##STR4## where the individual R's may be identical or different and each R is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen and alkyl, by cyclizing an o-benzoylbenzoic acid of the formula ##STR5## where R has the above meanings, at elevated temperatures, in which the cyclization is carried out in the presence of a cyclizing agent of an oxygen-containing compound of aluminum and of silicon at a temperature of from 150° to 350° C.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
22 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the reaction is carried out in the melt at from 200° to 350° C.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
25 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the reaction is carried out in the presence of organic solvents at from 150° to 250° C.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
28 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the reaction is carried out continuously over the cyclizing agent in a fixed bed at from 200° to 350° C.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
25 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the reaction is carried out continuously in a fluidized bed reactor at from 250° to 350° C.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
28 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the reaction is carried out in the presence of organic solvents by means of which the catalyst can be suspended.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
16 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the reaction is carried out with aluminum silicates.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
41 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the reaction is carried out with aluminum and silicon in the form of oxides, using from 0.01 to 10 moles of aluminum oxide (Al 2 O 3 ) per mole of silicon dioxide.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
50 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the reaction is carried out in the presence of solvents, using catalyst suspensions wherein the particle size is from 0.01 to 2 mm and the specific total surface area of the cyclizing agent being from 50 to 500 square meters per gram.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
49 words
