Abstract
Abstract An article such as a tube formed of heat-shrinkable material is bonded exteriorly or interiorly to an elastomeric member to form a laminated article. The bonding preferably takes place before heating and expanding of the heat-shrinkable tube. After expansion and cooling, the parts remain in the heat recoverable position. Subsequent heating of the parts causes them to recover radially about a substrate.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
141 words
A heat recoverable tubular member having at least one surface which is elastomeric material comprising, in combination: an inner tube, a co-axial outer tube, means forming a bond between the outer surface of the inner tube and the inner surface of the outer tube, one of the tubes being formed of a heat recoverable cross-linked thermoplastic polymer which maintains the elastomeric material in a stretched configuration, the other tube being formed of elastomeric material, the bonded tubes being held in the heat recoverable state by the tube formed of the thermoplastic polymer, prior to the application of heat whereby the tube of elastomeric material is maintained in a stretched condition until application of sufficient heat to the heat recoverable polymer to allow recovery of the heat recoverable polymeric tube thus resulting in recovery of the elastomeric tube to a smaller diameter.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
25 words
The article of claim 1 in which the outer tube is formed of heat recoverable material and the inner tube is formed of elastomeric material.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
25 words
The article of claim 1 in which the inner tube is formed of heat recoverable material and the outer tube is formed of elastomeric material.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
18 words

Claim 6
Dependent Claim
14 words
The article of claim 2 wherein the thermoplastic polymer is a crosslinked ethylene polymer.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
20 words
The article of claim 2 wherein the elastomeric material is selected from the group consisting of rubbers and rubber-like polymer.
