Abstract The invention relates to monomethine dyestuffs of the formula <IMAGE> wherein Z1 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl Z2 is hydrogen or Z1 Q is CN, COOR2 or CONR3R4, R1u.R4 is hydrogen or alkyl, R2 is alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl and R3 is alkyl, cycloakyl, aralkyl, aryl or acyl.
