Abstract
Abstract A liquid crystal display device comprises a cell of opposed plates, each of which is unidirectionally rubbed, the directions of rubbing being perpendicular to each other and polarizer and analyzer plates at the exterior surfaces of the cell. The cell contains a nematic liquid crystal composition having a net positive dielectric anisotropy. The liquid crystal composition consists of azoxy compounds and nitriles.
