Claim 1
Independent Claim
105 words
In a process for the hydroformylation of an unsaturated compound which is reactable with carbon monoxide and hydrogen to form an alcohol or aldehyde, wherein said unsaturated compound is reacted with carbon monoxide and hydrogen at a temperature of from about 15°C to about 300°C and a pressure of from about atmospheric to about 500 atmospheres, the improvement of effecting the hydroformylation reaction in the presence of a phthalocyanine of a metal selected from the group consisting of rhenium, rhodium, cobalt, ruthenium, iridium and osmium, said phthalocyanine being in an amount of from about 0.00001 to about 10.0 mols per mol of said unsaturated compound.
