Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 2
Claim 1
Independent Claim 84 words
The process for making dinitrotoluene which comprises (1) forming a solution of toluene in methylene chloride, (2) adding a mixture of concentrated sulfuric acid having a concentration of at least 90% and concentrated nitric acid of at least 90% concentration to the methylene chloride solution at a temperature of from 42° to 45°C., the said acid being close to the stoichiometric amount required to attach two nitro groups to the toluene, and (3) extracting the dinitrotoluene from the reaction mixture with additional methylene chloride.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 84 words
