Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim
97 words
A method of feeding a water-soluble polymeric flocculant having a molecular weight of from about 800,000 to about 20,000,000 to an aqueous medium having solid matter dispersed and suspended therein, which medium is being pumped and therefore undergoing a turbulent shearing action, which method comprises adding an effective amount of said polymeric flocculent as discrete particles having an effective size range to achieve dissolution in said aqueous medium, to reduce the effect of said turbulent shearing action on the molecular weight and flocculating activity of said polymeric flocculant after said polymeric flocculant dissolves in said aqueous medium.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
20 words
A method according to claim 1 wherein the particles have a particle size of from about 170 to 1400 microns.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
14 words
A method according to claim 1 wherein the particles are fed as a suspension.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
15 words
A method according to claim 3 wherein the particles are fed as an aqueous slurry.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
20 words
A method according to claim 4 wherein the particles have a particle size of from about 170 to 1400 microns.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
23 words
A method according to claim 5 wherein the polymer is selected from the group consisting of cationic, non-ionic and anionic polymers of acrylamide.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
17 words
A method according to claim 1 wherein the medium being pumped is derived from a dredging operation.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
27 words
A method according to claim 1 wherein the medium contains dispersed and suspended therein at least one of the group of siliceous material, silt and organic matter.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
20 words
A method according to claim 8 wherein the particles have a particle size of from about 170 to 1400 microns.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
14 words
A method according to claim 9 wherein the particles are fed as a suspension.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
13 words
A method according to claim 10 wherein the suspension is an aqueous slurry.
