Abstract

Abstract 1. A method of forming an aerosol of flake-like aluminum particles having diameters in the range of 2 to 20 microns and thicknesses of less than 3/10 micron wich comprises feeding into a hot, high velocity gas stream a suspension of said particles in a hydrocarbon oil, the temperature of said gas stream being sufficient to quickly vaporize said hydrocarbon oil thereby forming a mixed stream of hot gases, hydrocarbon oil vapors and said aluminum particles, and discharging said mixed stream into the atmosphere.
