A silver halide photographic emulsion containing, in combination, supersensitizing amounts of (A) at least one sensitizing dye of the following general formula (I) ##EQU5## wherein Z 1 represents an atomic group required to form a benzimidazole ring; Z 2 represents an atomic group required to form a benzoselenazole ring; R 1 and R 2 each represents an aliphatic group, with at least one of R 1 and R 2 being a carboxy-containing alkyl group or a sulfo-containing alkyl group; R 3 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; X 1 is an acid anion; and m is 1 or 2, and when m is 1 the dye forms an intramolecular salt; and (B) at least one sensitizing dye selected from the group consisting of a sensitizing dye of the following general formula (II) ##EQU6## wherein Z 3 represents an atomic group required to form a benzothiazole ring, a β-naphthothizole ring or a 62-naphthoselenazole ring; Z 4 represents an atomic group required to form a benzimidazole ring; R 4 and R 5 each represents an aliphatic group, with at least one of R 4 and R 5 being a carboxy-containing alkyl group or a sulfo-containing alkyl group; R 6 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; X 2 is an acid anion; and n is 1 or 2, and when n is 1 the dye forms an intramolecular salt; and a sensitizing dye of the following general formula (III) ##EQU7## wherein Z 5 represents an atomic group required to form a benzothiazole ring or a benzoselenazole ring; Z 6 represents an atomic group required to form a benzoxazole ring; R 7 and R 8 each represents an aliphatic group, with at least one of R 7 and R 8 being a carboxy-containing alkyl group or a sulfo-containing alkyl group; R 9 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; X 3 is an acid anion; and p is 1 or 2, and when p is 1 the dye forms an intramolecular salt.
