A composition comprising a major amount of hydrocarbon oil of lubricating viscosity and between about 0.01 and 25 wt. % of an amine salt of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole characterized by the formula: ##SPC2## where R is alkyl or alkenyl of between about 4 and 30 carbons and between about 0.01 and 25.0 wt. % of a thiadiazole characterized by the formula: ##EQU4## where R 1 and R 2 are alkyl or alkenyl of from 4 to 30 carbons.
