Abstract

Abstract A two-stage process for producing indoanilines includes oxidizing in a first stage a paraphenylene diamine to a quinone diimine and in a second stage condensing the said quinone diimine with a phenolic compound. The resulting indoanilines can be incorporated into a dye composition for keratinous fibers, especially, human hair.
