Abstract
Abstract New organic peroxides having the formula may be prepared by reacting a monohydroperoxide selected from R5OOH and R6OOH with an unsaturated carbonyl compound having the formula the reaction being carried out in the presence of an acid catalyst at a temperature between about -30*C and +80*C, the molar ratio of the carbonyl compound to the hydroperoxide being between about 1:2 and 1:10. The new organic peroxides are particularly useful for crosslinking plastomers, vulcanizing elastomers, and as initiators for radical polymerizations.
