Abstract

Abstract Methyl glucoside of low residual glucose content is directly made from glucose by methylating glucose with methanol in the presence of an acid catalyst and anhydrous, hydratable CaSO4. The produced methyl glucoside contains less than about 1% residual glucose and can be used without requiring removal of the residual glucose content.
