Claim 1
Independent Claim 182 words
A teaching machine comprising: a housing adapted to receive a record member; a keyboard on said housing; a display on said housing constructed and arranged to display the answer to a problem appearing on a record member having recorded thereon visually readable statements of a plurality of problems and corresponding machine readable answers if a student first enters the correct answer on said keyboard; means for incrementally advancing a record member on a path through the machine; a viewing area formed on said housing and positioned at a predetermined position on said path for rendering visible one of the visually readable statements of a problem; reading means for reading the machine readable answer corresponding to the problem rendered visible in said viewing area; means for energizing said display to display the answer to the problem visible in said viewing area if the answer entered on said keyboard corresponds to the answer read by said reading means; and interrogable means for storing and selectively displaying information on said display for determining the number of problems answered correctly and answers attempted by the student.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 182 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 40 words
The teaching macHine according to claim 1, wherein said keyboard comprises a plurality of keys including an answer key and said means for energizing said display including means operable to display said answer only after said answer key is depressed.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 41 words
The teaching machine according to claim 2, wherein said keyboard further includes an erase key for erasing an answer entered into said keyboard when said erase key is depressed after said answer is entered and before said answer key is depressed.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 32 words
The teaching machine according to claim 1, wherein said interrogable means includes counting means for counting the number of answers attempted by the student and the number of answers which are correct.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 34 words
The teaching machine according to claim 4 wherein said interrogable means includes means responsive to the depression of predetermined keys on said keyboard for displaying the contents of said counting means on said display.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 38 words
The teaching machine according to claim 4, wherein said interrogable means further includes means constructed and arranged to respond to the insertion of an actuating key member for displaying the contents of said counting means on said display.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 47 words
The teaching machine of claim 4 wherein said interrogable means further includes means constructed and arranged to respond to the insertion of an actuating key member and the depression of predetermined keyboard keys on said keyboard for displaying the contents of said counting means on said display.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 40 words
The teaching machine according to claim 4 wherein said keyboard includes an erase key and said interrogable means further includes means responsive to actuation of said interrogable means and the depression of said erase key for clearing said counter means.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 19 words
The teaching machine according to claim 1 further including a slot for storing a plurality of said record members.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 32 words
The teaching machine according to claim 1 wherein said display is positioned to the right of said viewing area and further including an equal sign between said viewing area and said display.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 103 words
A teaching machine comprising: a housing adapted to receive a record member; a keyboard on said housing, in which a student enters one at a time on said keyboard the answers to a plurality of problems serially presented to him; a display on said housing, constructed and arranged for displaying the answers to said problems when the correct answer is entered; and actuatable interrogating means comprising: means for counting the number of answers attempted and number of correct answers entered by the student on said keyboard; and actuatable means for enabling the display on said display of the contents of said counting means.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 103 words
A teaching machine comprising: a housing adapted to receive a record member; a keyboard on said housing, in which a student enters one at a time on said keyboard the answers to a plurality of problems serially presented to him; a display on said housing, constructed and arranged for displaying the answers to said problems when the correct answer is entered; and actuatable interrogating means comprising: means for counting the number of answers attempted and number of correct answers entered by the student on said keyboard; and actuatable means for enabling the display on said display of the contents of said counting means.
