Abstract
Abstract Novel substituted azobenzenesulfonamides are useful as agents for the treatment of both mature and immature liver fluke infections. The azobenzenesulfonamide is substituted on the benzene ring with halogen. The azo substituents are aromatic hdyrocarbons such as phenyl or naphthyl, aromatic heterocycles such as pyridine, triazole and quinoline, aliphatic heterocycles such as imidazoline and pyrimidine trione and aliphatic esters which in turn may be substituted with hydroxyl, amino, loweralkyl, carboxy, hydrazino, nitrile, or ureido. Compositions containing these compounds for the treatment of mature and immature liver fluke infections are also disclosed.
