Abstract
Abstract The transalkylation reaction between a hydroxy compound having a higher alkyl group and a tertiary amine having a lower alkyl group to substitute a higher alkyl group for said lower alkyl group of said tertiary amine is carried out in a nitrogen atmosphere and in the presence of a catalyst which is selected from the group consisting of metals of the VIII group in the Periodic Table, alloys containing any of said metals and mixtures thereof.
