Abstract A process for preparing aryl ketones of the formula: FROM A COMPOUND OF THE FORMULA: THROUGH A COMPOUND OF THE FORMULA: A COMPOUND OF THE FORMULA: AND A COMPOUND OF THE FORMULA: THE SAID ARYL KETONES BEING (I) being useful as central nervous system depressants and the intermediary compounds (II), (III), and (IV) showing some pharmacological activities.
