Abstract
Abstract An improved mechanism is provided for driving the spinning rotor of each spinning unit of an open-end spinning apparatus. A pneumatic bearing is utilized for supporting the rotor shaft. In the preferred mechanism, a pneumatic turbine is utilized to drive the rotor shaft and the discharge air from the turbine is utilized for the pneumatic bearing. Further, it is preferred to use the discharge air from the bearing as a supply air which is fed into the spinning rotor.
