Abstract
Abstract In an electro-optic display device, a front substrate having film electrodes is confronted with a rear substrate having a film electrode through electro-optical matter which upon application of an electric field will produce an electro-optical phenomenon. The electro-optic display device has a part where no optical image is produced even if an electric field is applied thereto because of further provision of an insulating layer and a film electrode between the front and rear substrates. Due to this specific feature, the electro-optic display device can be applied to an electronic time piece and a transducer for temperature or so on.
