Abstract

Abstract Adhesion of rubber to metal (e.g., brass plated wire tire cord) is improved by incorporating a cobalt salt (e.g., cobalt naphthenate) into a rubber stock containing an adhesive resin forming system, particularly a methylolated nitroalkane (methylene donor) and a resorcinol type methylene acceptor, prior to vulcanizing the rubber in contact with the metal.
