Abstract

Abstract Antimony containing flame retardant compositions are provided for resins having reduced antimony content simultaneous with enhanced flame retarding efficiency, and consisting of sodium antimonate the particle size of which is within the range of between about 0.1-8 microns. In addition, an enhanced sodium antimonate flame retardant composition is provided by neutralizing the above noted sodium antimonate composition in the presence of an acid to a pH within the range of between about 6.8 and 7. Also provided are resins having improved flame retarding characteristics while simultaneously having improved color stability including reduced yellowness indices and sustained clarity.
