Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim 83 words
A MARINE STRUCTURE WHICH IS A WATERCRAFT HAVING AN ADHERENT CONTINUOUS EXPOSED COATING CONSISTING ESSENTIALLY OF A MEMBER OF THE GROUP CONSISTING OF (1) A WATER INSOLUBLE HYDROPHILIC POLYMER WHICH IS SWELLABLE TO AN EXTENT OF AT LEAST 10% IN WATER AND CONTAINS VINYL PYRROLIDONE UNITS, WHEREIN SAID VINYL PYRROLIDONE UNITS CONTRIBUTE SIGNIFICANTLY TO THE WATER SWELLABILITY, WHEREIN THE COATING IS SUFFICIENT TO REDUCE THE DRAG OF THE WATERCRAFT WHEN IN WATER AND, (2) SAID HYDROPHILIC POLYMER HAVING RELEASABLY ENTRAPPED THEREIN AT LEAST
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 83 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 23 words
A marine structure according to claim 1 including a minor amount up to 20% by weight of the polymer of a cross-linking agent.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 22 words
A marine structure according to claim 1 wherein the hydrophilic polymer is swellable to an extent of at least 20% in water.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 21 words
A marine structure according to claim 1 wherein the coating is a film having a thickness of 0.3 to 5 mils.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 38 words
A marine structure aCcording to claim 4 wherein underneath said exposed coating is an inner coating comprising an anti-foulant, said hydrophilic film coating being antifoulant free and sufficiently water absorbable to permit water to reach said anti-foulant coating.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 25 words
A marine structure according to claim 1 wherein the hydrophilic polymer is normally water soluble but has been cross-linked sufficiently to render it water insoluble.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 15 words
A marine structure according to claim 1 wherein the polymer is water insolubilized polyvinyl pyrrolidone.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 17 words
A marine structure according to claim 1 wherein the coating has releasably entrapped therein an anti-fouling agent.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 21 words
A marine structure according to claim 8 wherein the coating is a film having a thickness of 0.3 to 5 mils.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 25 words
A marine structure according to claim 8 wherein the hydrophilic polymer is normally water soluble, but has been cross-linked sufficiently to render it water insoluble.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 15 words
A marine structure according to claim 8 wherein the polymer is water insolubilized polyvinyl pyrrolidone.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 22 words
A marine structure according to claim 1 wherein the hydrophilic polymer is swellable to an extent of 20 to 120% in water.
