Abstract
Abstract A process for the preparation of 2(aryl)-as-triazine-3,5(2H,4H)diones by the decarboxylation of the corresponding 6-carboxylic acid comprising contacting said acid with at least a 0.1 molar proportion of mercaptocarboxylic acid. Mercaptocarboxylic esters also bring about the decarboxylation, possibly by the in situ formation of the corresponding mercaptocarboxylic acid.
