Abstract
Abstract Biodegradable, phosphate-free detergent compositions are provided comprising a calcium insensitive detergent and a precipitating builder consisting essentially of a mixture of an alkali metal carbonate and an alkali metal silicate, the weight ratio of carbonate to silicate being from 3:1 to 1:3 and the weight ratio of the detergent to builder being in the range of 1: 10 to 3:1.
