Abstract

Abstract A dry cell containing a separator which comprises a very fine paper having a thickness of at least about 10 microns and a density of about 0.65 to 0.85 g./cm3, said paper being coated with a paste material. Alternatively, the separator can comprise two layers of paper, a layer of said very fine paper and a layer of less fine paper, the latter having a density of about 0.45 to 0.55 g./cm3 and provided with a coating of paste material. In the dry cell, the separator is mounted parallel to the anode in such a manner that the side of said separator on which the paste is coated is placed together with said anode. The opposite side of said separator is in contact with the depolarizer.
